Pirlo says goodbye.
At the age of 38 and with nearly one thousand games played at professional level between club and national team Andrea Pirlo, probably the best italian player and one of the best in the world of the last 20 years, has announced that he will retire from football at the end of this season.

Re: Pirlo says goodbye.
According to Ray Wilkins he has made several visits to Chelsea over the last 6-12 months and Wilkins seems to think he's going to rock up there, in what capacity he didn't say.

Re: Pirlo says goodbye.
Fabulous player, but one of those that is only recognised and talked about in this country after taking England to town.

No-one talked about him before he pulled England all over the shot in the Euro 2012 quarterfinal and then scored the Panenka penalty in the shoot-out.

Of course he'd done nothing before then...except be named man of the match as Italy won the World Cup final, won the U21 Euros and two Champions League among other things.

Re: Pirlo says goodbye.
Last couple of times we played them, he absolutely raped us.

Fairly average team surrounding him in those latter years for Italy, but he made them tick.

Incredible player, happy retirement sir.

Took the piss out of us in that England game WC 2014. Looked fitter than our players at 35 in that tropical heat.

Re: Pirlo says goodbye.
one of the best I've seen in his position. didn't need pace as his brain worked about ten times faster than the opponents
